Facilities
On the first floor, the parlor and library offer perfect locations to wait for friends, catch up on news or hold informal meetings. For those who enjoy cigars, the Club maintains its original 1890's front desk humidor stocked with a choice selection of imported cigars. There is also the Grill Room and Bar with its card and pool tables and a wide screen television. In addition to the casual Grill Room for dining, there is the grand, third floor Main Dining Room, a premier space for receptions. The room with its original, two story, 22-foot ceiling and magnificent aged-mahogany paneling bespeaks the golden era of the nation's railroad and lumber barons. Meetings There are a number of rooms available to members who want to use the Club for meetings. The rooms can be set up to graciously accommodate parties of four to well over one hundred. If the event includes a meal, the Club staff is available to plan the menu. The Detroit Club also offers access to the latest communications and conferencing technologies as well audio/visual services. Fine Dining Fine dining is the tradition of the Club. Our creative and accommodating chef/manager develops new menus each week to reflect the seasons and the demands of health-conscious diners. Always available are the Club's traditional favorites such as chilled-Senegalese soup, broiled fresh whitefish, and the always popular The Detroit Club coffee ice cream. The chef and his staff are available to help members plan for private functions including wedding rehearsal dinners, receptions, corporate functions, seminars, or lectures. The Club kitchen will also cater functions held outside of the clubhouse. Fitness Center On the fourth floor, the Club is equipped with a complete fitness center: exercise, massage, changing and shower rooms. Open at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, members can schedule a fitness regime and breakfast at the Club into their daily routines. In addition, the Club offers the services of a superb physical trainer and a professional masseuse. Sports Tickets Members may purchase the Club's season tickets for Tigers baseball and Red Wings hockey games. The Club's baseball box seats are exceptional. Member Events The Detroit Club offers its members a wide variety of special events including regular breakfast and lunch forums with newsmakers on a variety of interesting current events. New to the offerings are cooking classes with hands-on instruction from the chef and a sumptuous meal when students feast on their labors. Other events include a New Year's Day Brunch with the traditional New Year's Toast to the City of Detroit, the Thanksgiving Day Parade breakfast, a Christmas cocktail party, theater outings, cigar dinners, fine wine, liquor and beer tastings, and game dinners. Reciprocal Clubs Membership in The Detroit Club opens doors to many outstanding clubs throughout the world. An updated directory of the clubs is available from the front desk. |
